Take up open water swimming
Welcome to the Eastern Cape Open Water Swim Series website. The objective of the Swim Series is to complement the Nelson Mandela Bay Ocean Racing Series (see www.oceanracingseries.com) to help EP Aquatics with team selections and qualification times for national events.
Swim caps ARE compulsory for all swims, please bring your own cap.
Season 2 (2010/11) will consist of the following events at Marina Martinique (Jeffreys Bay);
- 30/31st October : 10km, 5km, 3km, 1km, 500m swims
- 13/14th November : 10km, 5km, 3km, 1km, 500m swims
- 22/23rd December : Marina Martinique Mile
- 22/23rd January : 10km, 5km, 3km, 1km, 500m swims
- 19/20 March : 10km, 5km, 3km, 1km, 500m swims

Saturday
Event 1 - 15h00 : 10km Mixed Swim
Sunday
Event 2 - 09h00 : 5km Mixed Swim
Event 3 - 09h00 : 3km Mixed Swim
Event 4 - 10h30 : Kids 500m swim
Event 5 - 10h45 : Kids 10u Bank to Bank
Event 6 - 11h00 : 1km Mixed Swim
PLEASE NOTE: Entries for all events CLOSE 30min before the scheduled race start time. ALL swimmers who've entered online are to report for registration on the day to get their number recorded.
A compulsory race briefing will take place at least 10 minutes before the start and the scheduled start times above may be altered on the day.
Wetsuits will be permitted, but only swimmers wearing costumes and/or FINA recognised swim suits will qualify for SSA times and/or prizes on the day.
Age Group categories
10km Swim : only swimmers over 14yrs are permitted
5km Swim : 14 - 39; Over 40; Over 50
3km Swim : 11 - 13; 14 - 39; Over 40; Over 50
1km Swim : 13 & Under; 14 - 39; Over 40; Over 50
